EXTENSIONS
MAY 2022

stretch satin fabric, thread

tags: sculpture, designed objects
using a material that mimics human skin in an uncanny way; with a slight sheen to it, i created two ‘extensions’ of the body.

i created these pieces in my core class, and the prompt was simply put. create something wearable, but not just an article of clothing. a generalized quote from one of my teachers when introducing the project was ‘something like jump roping with your hands, maybe not that ridiculous but in that realm’ so i turned around and immediately built two arm extensions that you can jump rope with.

of course that was not the only intent, as i created the first one i began to think more about the idea of physical touch between two bodies, and of interaction between two bodies of work. the arm extensions were worn by myself and a classmate, intertwined with one another.
